Operations

Our Thurles clinic is fully equipped with the most modern diagnostic and surgical equipment as well as modern facilities to provide comprehensive treatment.

The clinic has laboratory facilities, an air-driven dental unit, digital x-ray, ultrasonography and modern surgical equipment used in most surgical procedures including orthopaedics. Our operations are carried out in a dedicated operating theatre which houses the latest anaesthetic equipment for the safe general anaesthesia of your pet.

All surgical patients are admitted in the morning between 8.30am and 9.30am. The most important pre-surgical step we take is to fully explain your pets surgical procedure and why it is necessary. We will also answer any questions you may have so that you feel comfortable that you have made the right choice for your pet. We will require you to sign a consent form. It is the policy of our clinic that all animals are fasted for 12 hours before arriving at the clinic. On admission to the clinic, all surgical patients are given a pre-anaesthetic health check by the vet and a pain-relieving injection to ensure that they are comfortable by the time the surgery commences later in the morning. All surgical patients are usually sent home in the afternoon after 4pm. At the collection of your pet, you will be informed about the home-care and any medication that your pet is going home with.
